Pretty Pattern Sunday #11

15 Jan

Today’s Pretty Pattern Sunday marks my first purchase of 2012. Like most vintage loving gals, I’ve got a bit of a soft spot for good Pendleton jackets and their other sundry goods. My current Pendleton tally stands at three jackets and one lovely red wool skirt. Luckily for me, I bought them when I lived in Florida, where wool is not so prized as it’s hot year round, and were therefore inexpensive. However, online the prices seem to continue to rise. So when I saw this pattern and realized what it was, what it must be, I knew I had to buy it.

Do you see what I see?

Peeps, doesn’t this look AMAZINGLY similar to the classic Pendleton ’49er? I love both versions of it. I could definitely make this up in a lovely plaid wool or, if the perfect plaid wool was no where to be found, in a wide-wale mustard colored corduroy. Yummy!

On another note,  my suit plans are currently in the muslin stage. However, cutting will have to wait until Friday for me to purchase some proper lining. I was under the impression that I had loads of pink satin lining left over from my Lady Grey, but I find that I was mistaken and will just have to wait until payday! This is good because I’ve been meaning to have an excuse to explore some of the surrounding fabric stores, and here that excuse is.

In the meantime, I’ll be watching the copious amounts of costume dramas I checked out at the library this week and knitting happily by the fire while sipping tea and watching the snow fall outside.

Until next time!

Eileen

I am still insanely jealous of all your Pendelton finds! This pattern is especially cute–perhaps you could find the perfect, vintage wool blanket at one of those awesome thrift shops that would work for the jacket? 😉

One of my earliest clothes-related memories, which would have to be from the late 1950s is my mother wearing a pink and grey plaid jacket like that….

Ah, I bet it was lovely. I just love those colors together. I’ve seen a grey and blue one which was nice as well- but too small for me- RATS!
